Atlassian Guard

Sarah Cristina Bizewski August 1, 2025

Good morning, everyone. I hope you're doing well.

I have a question regarding Atlassian Guard.
Currently, I have an organization with all my users from my domain, and I use Atlassian Guard to implement SSO.
I plan to expand my organization to include a partner domain (which is configured as external access in my Microsoft Tenant). How should I handle these accesses on the Atlassian Guard side?

I hope I’ve described my situation clearly.

Thank you for your help!
Kind regards,

So what is the end goal here? Do you want the external users to

  • use SSO against your MS Tenant?
  • be synched automatically?
  • any other behaviour?

Good morning! How are you?

Yes, I want to understand how external domains (outside of mine) can use my Atlassian Jira organization and perform SSO through Guard.

Check out this article on SSO for external users: Single sign-on (SSO) now available for external users with Atlassian

If I understand correctly, the users would not be synched from your tenant (as you would need to claim their external domains for that) - so you have to sync them manually (I'd have to double check that though). External users can be managed via policies and apparently you can enforce SSO for them now as well.

I've not yet had that scenario myself so I don't speak from experience. Sorry!
