Automate linking issues from trigger issues

Hi there

I've set up a rule for an issue to be created in the backlog of a project if a request has been approved from Jira service management, it works. 

I want to link the issue created in the backlog (issue type = story) to the trigger issue (issue type = 'submit a request'). I get an error saying 'you cannot link an issue to itself'

How do I do this?

Can you share your rules? I suspect what you’re missing is that you need to create a branch rule for the most recently created issue. Then you can link that issue to the trigger issue.
