I had a request from one of our teams who is using Service Management to interact with customer requests and uses Jira Work Management as a Task Management board. They wanted to know if they can automatically have a ticket come in to their JSM board that creates a Task and sub-tasks in the JWM board.
It looks like rules don't work across Jira products, but I wanted to make sure before I told her they'll need to do it manually (or at least, a manually triggered rule to create the task templates).
Yes, that is possible to do, and automations can span across the different flavors of Jira. I have an automation for onboarding/off-boarding tasks in our HR project that generates issues in a JWM project for one of our teams.
I am not sure how I missed that.
<triggers>
Then: Create Issue:
Change "Project" to JWM Project
Set "Issue Type" to "Task"|"Subtask"
Thanks.
