Change portal view based on user?

Keenan McCrary July 28, 2021

Is it possible to have two different groups see two different portals?  Or would I need to create a new project for each group to have their own portal?

So when you say you want a different portal what exactly does that mean? The reason I ask is that in Jira service management there is a Help Center which is the top level screen and then each project will present a portal on the Help Center. Which portals a customer sees is controlled by whether they are a customer of the underlying project or not. All Customers of a given project will see the same portal view as well as the Help Center view. While creating separate projects will present customers with a different portal the helps center view will remain the same.

this brings me back to my original question what exactly are your goals? It is very likely that you’re going to need a different solution. One option you might look at is Refined for Jira Cloud

Thanks Jack, sounds like I need two separate projects.  I want to have a user portal(where users get support) and an operations portal(where operations perform different functions)

Ok then yes likely a different project. Generally speaking I create a different project if one or more of the following is true:

  • different agents supporting the requests
  • Very different request types, e.g. IT and HR
  • Very different audience (customers)
