Hello, I am an admin at Atlassian. We are running into the following problem. Users suddenly get first names like: j.janssen instead of jan Janssen. They cannot change this themselves. I can't adjust it either. I can make a suggestion, though. Then they get a mail. This mail says : change details. This button links through to an page that says. Log in with google enabled. Mannaged account : your account is managed. How can we change user names now? Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
Hi Brandon - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
Your Jira organization has probably implemented Managed Users being that the name is controlled by the IAM tool you are connected to. So, check that tool and update the name there - AD, Okta, etc.
I also saw this online. However, we don't use a IAM tool. We do use SSO Google. Besides, this has never been the case. It is overnight. Besides, after the sugestion, the mail should give a follow-up right?

I guess Google would your IAM tool then, more or less. :-) Do you have access to the account in SSO Google? Is this happening with all users? Or just this one user?

I looked in our google admin console. Even though the names would be copied from there : The names are always fully populated there. It seems that as of the last few users, this is to case. The last 10 per cent added have the j.jansen user name formatting.

Hmm, strange. You should go ahead and open a support ticket with Atlassian to see what they can track down.
