Copying select attachments from one issue to another issue.

Is there a way to select and attach specific attachments in Jira Service Desk via Automation Rules?

Working on huge workflow in Jira Service Desk Data Center and Jira Software Board combining multiple issues/issue types. Some of the issues require specific items to be attached to accomplish the task being asked but not all.  Then the resulting file will be attached and copied to the over arching issue. This is so the over arching issue will have all the work history and attachments in one location but not all the attachments will need to included in future steps(issues).

Example:

Over Arching Issue: Build a Gnome Village (Star Artist (SA) Assigned)

Part 1 Issue: (Design/Drafting Department) Design/List Individual figures/Map out Village.

Attachments added to Part 1 Issue for Closure: Platform Design, Village Map, Figure Paint Guidelines, & Complete List of all Figures and Materials Required

Attachments copied to Over Arching Issue.

Part 2 Issue: (Logistics Department) Verify all parts are available in Inventory.

Attachment added to Part 2 Issue for Closure: Bill of Materials(BOM) & Order Form

Copy BOM & Order Form to Over Arching Issue.

Hi @Tiffany Myers ,

Wow, that reads like a very complex undertaking.  However, I am certain that you could accomplish this with a combination of apps. Only with automations and on Server, I am not sure it'll work.

I would look into smart attachments in combination with scriptrunner.

It helps if issues have certain attributes, like labels, and/or can be linked to each other (the ones that need to copy files) with defined link types.

Also it is certainly helpful if attachments could have the same file name or a name pattern.

You probably need to have the file copying done by issue transition via post function each time. So you could set an automation rule that triggers a transition not visible to users when someone adds an attachment - not sure though if that trigger is possible on Server.
