Emails from JIRA Appearing as External

Darren Friedrich

I have configured JIRA to send emails on behalf of our domain Configure Jira Cloud to send emails on behalf of your domain | Atlassian Support

And configured project's sender email address. Configure Jira Cloud to send emails on behalf of your domain | Atlassian Support

It is all working as expected however as the emails are generated from JIRA cloud our email; gateway (Proofpoint) is labeling them with an "External" tag in the Subject line.

Is there some information i.e an IP address we can add as a whitelisted email relay for the JIRA Cloud for email?

resolve this by switching our email tagging from Proofpoint to M365 which gives much more granular tagging and we were then able to exclude these email addresses from being tagged as External.

Hello @Darren Friedrich

Thank you for reaching out.

Can you confirm if you added an entirely new email address to your project? or have you just edited the email prefix and are still using the default Jira cloud email address?

I recommend checking if the outbound email IPs listed in this documentation are properly whitelisted:
