Get E-Mail read notification from outgoing mail back to Jira

I was wondering if is possible to send a mail from Jira to an external User and get the Read acknowledgement back to Jira.

Certainly this is not possible out of the box. The only thing I can think of is potentially an add-on mail handler might provide that mechanism.
