Highlighted Red Due Date Temporarily Appeared on Company-Managed Projects

I have a colleague who states this functionality appeared for about a week last week, then disappeared. 

On a JIRA board, when an issue's Due Date passes, the Due Date is shown on the card details and is highlighted red with red text. No additional configuration appears to be necessary. 

I found this Suggestion which indicates that this is functionality, but currently only on Team-Managed projects:

The projects my colleague referenced are both Company-Managed projects. So it seems like perhaps Atlassian was testing something or accidentally enabled this functionality. Does anyone know anything about this becoming available for Company-Managed projects?

More people have noticed this and mentioned it on the community.

It seems Atlassian is trying this on certain instances, some instances have it temporarily.

There is nothing now if this will be implemented for now.
