I’m looking to calculate the average time spent on issues. After exploring apps and community answers, I’ve only found solutions for average time in status. However, I need to calculate the average time spent (logged time) on all closed issues for a specific year. Can anyone suggest a solution?

That request needs you to aggregate a lot of data and then calculating averages on them. I would definitely recommend you to look at a BI reporting solution. You may have one available in your company, but if you don't, you might want to look at EazyBI for this:
I built the above on report quickly, using resolution as a means to detect closed issues.
