Using JSM I noticed that I can only see the pre-made fields in the JSM full "Issue Search" section, is it possible to see the custom fields added as well? As there are some users that prefer it over JQL.
Thanks!
@Calvin -
To access custom fields, it is recommended that you use the option of "Switch to JQL" to construct your search query. In this option, you will be able to access your custom fields using the Jira Query Language syntax.
Here is a reference page on Advanced search using the JQL option - https://support.atlassian.com/jira-work-management/docs/use-advanced-search-with-jira-query-language-jql/
Hope this helps.

Thanks mate, I see a module help section appeared that confirmed that basic search does not allow for searching of these fields at the moment, and must be done via JQL. So accepting this answer, thanks for the help.

Hi @Calvin ,
Do you mean the issue search on the User Portal, or the Issue search using Basic/ Advanced Search?
Since you mentioned JQL I'm guessing the second. If so, you should be able to add any field from the "more" button. Using this I can select any custom field that I have made.
(please note, I don't use any plugins that add additional custom field types)

Thanks for this. Is there someway you were able to make this happen? This is for Jira Service Management (JSM) and not Jira Software right?
For some reason mine just comes up with the original fields that came with the software and I don't see any custom ones.

No this worked out of the box for me, no additional configuration needed.
In your environment, if you add a custom field in advanced search, can you switch back to basic search?

Hi @Calvin ,
The standard issue search is quite limited. If you are open to using addons, you can check the app that my team created, called Advanced Portal Reports. It provides your customers (portal users) with an extended search - a table report where they can see, search, filter and export all their Jira Service Management tickets, including many additional details (incl. SLAs, custom fields, etc.), with a very simple UI. If it sounds helpful you can try it free for 30 days.
Cheers,
Elitsa
