How do I populate the Reporter drop down with my list of Customers?

frank.le July 6, 2022

Under Customers I have a list of all my internal users. How do I get that list to show under Reporter drop down?

Currently the Reporter field says 'Anonymous' and when I click on it and try to search for other users, I get 'No options' message.

I sometimes manually create the ticket for our users and I would like to set the Reporter to the actual user.

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

The reporter field is populated with the Jira users who have the permission to create issues in the current project.

@Nic Brough -Adaptavist- how do I exactly give my Jira Customers/Users permissions to create issues in the current project?

Can you provide specific step-by-step instructions?

Thanks,
Frank

First go to the project and look at the administration.  Find the "permission scheme" in there and read what it says for "Create issue" and "Browse project".

It is likely to say things like "Role: users", "Group: any logged in user", "Group: Thingy",  or possibly combinations of many.

If it says "Role: something", then you can do this in the project.  Go back to project admin and find the users or people section.  You can then add your people into the role that was nominated.

If it uses only groups, you'll need to get the people added to the groups, which may have to be done by a user administrator, not just a Jira admin.

The steps you provided didn’t work.

Our Site Admin had to add me to the default Jira and Confluence group.

This is resolved now.

Um, sorry, but that's what I told you to do.

Give yourself the access you need by asking your admin.

The steps I gave were for you and your admin to understand how best to do it.
