How do we track hours estimated and logged right from Sprint Report?

Hi! I have a bit of understanding about it but would like to have an expert opinion and how others are doing or managing it by the end or completion of each sprint (instead of opening each task and going into their work log). Thanks!

Hello @Asad ,

If you don't mind getting a third-party application for your Jira instance, then on behalf of SolDevelo development team, I would like you to recommend our application called "Worklogs - Time Tracking and Time Reports".

Worklogs allows you to precisely filter the company’s logged work with a wide range of filters such as users, issues, issue types, labels and more. Additionally, you can display the data for a specific date range with a breakdown by day, week, month or year.

Worklogs' filters also allow you to track and view hours logged into your Sprints, per your requirements:

Moreover, you can export the reports to a spreadsheet file, share if by a link to other Jira users and view them in a form of a Pie and Bar chart:

It's also worth noting that the app uses Jira's native time tracing and time logs, meaning that any time tracked previously with this method before its installation will be present in Worklogs.

You can check the pricing for the app here.

If you haven't tested our app yet, I invite you to do so - it looks like it should meet your requirements.

You can also book a demo with one of our experts and we will showcase the app and answer any questions you might have, or you can contact us through the portal here.

Regards,
Tomasz

Hi @Asad,

Did you explore all the Jira's reports: Sprint report, Burndown report, Burnup Report, Velocity report? They could be helpful.

If you need something more advanced, you will need to search on Atlassian Marketplace for an app that provides such report or gadgets.

If you consider the idea of using an app, our Great Gadgets app offers some gadgets that allows you to track the sprint and release progress by time estimated and time logged: Sprint Burndown Bunrup Chart gadgetRelease Burndown Burnup Chart gadget and Team Velocity gadget. See them all in this article: Tracking an agile project that uses time estimates with Great Gadgets for Jira

This gadget offers also a Data tab with a sprint report that displays the Spent hours and Remaining hours, so there is no need to open each individual issue.

Hi @Asad   👋
If you're thinking about installing third-party add-ons, check out
Sprint Performance Report in the Time in Status add-on  that allows you to track estimated vs. logged hours for each sprint without needing to dive into individual tasks.

By leveraging the Sprint Report, you can:

  1. Estimate vs. Logged Hours Overview: The report aggregates the estimated hours (Original Time) and the logged hours for all issues in the sprint, giving you a clear comparison between the two metrics. This is particularly helpful at the end of the sprint when reviewing performance.

  2. Monitor Capacity & Workload: The Team Velocity and Workload metrics within the Sprint Performance Report help you gauge how much work was completed versus the original estimates. This gives you an instant view of whether your team over- or under-committed for the sprint.

  3. Identifying Bottlenecks: The report also highlights issues that may have had lower or higher-than-expected time logged, enabling better sprint retrospectives and future sprint planning.

Instead of opening each task, this report helps you summarize everything in one place, so by the end of each sprint, you can easily evaluate the actual work done vs. what was estimated.

You can also book a live session to ask any questions about the add-on. Add-on developed by my team.

I hope you find this helpful 🚀

Hi @Asad

As an alternative if you would be interested in a mktplace app, to track sprint status / velocity as a dashboard gadget, I can recommend our app. The app comes with a few gadgets to track team member's velocity in a sprint and also a complete sprint status overview.
