I am trying to hide one request grop from certain user group at customer portal at Service Desk progect.
For example, I want the query group "Requests for HR" to be visible only to HR-s and not to be visible to everyone else.
You could either consider creating a separate project or look into an addon.

which what? if you are asking for which addon I can only offer a possible suggestion not based upon personal experience have a look at - extension-for-jira-service-desk

Sadly, the cloud version doesn't seem to be able to customize the portal groups

yes cloud supports addons. I would recommend searching the available addons in the Marketplace for customizing the portal for cloud.

Yes Cloud supports add-ons but the specific addon you are mentioning (Extension for Jira) does not have the feature to hide groups on the customer portal

I have seen this answer all across the forums and community. Creating multiple projects is not a viable option for a multitude of reasons, but I will just mention our own.
1) Single email/channel for all client to create tickets, there is no point for us having multiple emails per "type" of issue.
2) Single email template customization, customizing each project separately is a pain, there is no central location, constantly copying and pasting is not an option
3) Single workflow customization, if we decide to alter our customer support flows, we can't go into every single project (don't suggest workflow schemes please)
4) Single Request Type customization
The Extension for Jira Service Desk, on server, solved the problem elegantly.
So if anyone has found a solution for cloud, please let me know, it is a blocker for us at the moment, and we want to migrate.
