How to CC assignee on approval emails

We want the assignee for a change to be added in CC when an email goes out for approval on that change TO an approver.

Currently when i go to edit the approval email template, i see only option TO, there is no CC on this template that i can assign to assignee.

Hi @swapna baswa 

While it's not possible to do this with the native template, you can certainly achieve it using Automation by creating a custom notification and including the Assignee in the CC.

Thanks Sam, but doesnt the approval email goes automatically with approve button within ?  and if i do this automation, the approver will get it twice right

Hi @swapna baswa 

It does, with this workaround if you don't want to get the notification twice here are the options:

  • Disable the native approval notification and only enable the Automation.
  • Keep the native approval notification for the Approvers and send a separate notification to the Assignee using Automation.

I dont want Option 2, because the main reason for this requirement is for Assignee to be on same email that the approve gets, for follow ups etc. 

I can try option 1, but if i disable this, can i put the approve and declines button within the email body from automation? Do you have an example

Hi @swapna baswa 

There is an open suggestion to add this as a smart value Add {{approval.buttons}} smart value to add service desk approval buttons to emails sent via automation rule 

For the moment the workaround is detailed in this post JSM Approvals by Email (with a work around)
