I have a field called Assignment Group maps to Group table i want to restrict only for 4 groups

Hi,

I have a field called Assignment Group maps to Group table and if i click the drop down it will show all the groups which are available in the Jira.

 i want to restrict only for 4 groups. which are Group A, Group B, Group C and Group D.

Kindly help me out how to configure the same.

Hi @Sreenadh 

You can't do that unfortunately on cloud. Adaptavist is preparing an app (which already exists on server/DC) called Behaviours via which you could do that (on server). However on cloud this app will first be limited to only a handful of systemic fields.

However as an alternative, what you could do is to:

• create a new CF as a single select with choices the exact group names
• Place this field on the request type instead of the group all field you created
• During the create transition copy the value from the above CF field to your group field

Place this field on the request type instead of the group all field you created--Please elaborate the solutions

• Go to custom fields
• Find the field you created
• Edit the screens and place it on the create/edit/view screen of your issue type
• Then go to project > project settings
• Go to request types and choose the request type(s) you want this field to place
• Place the field on the request type and click save

During the create transition copy the value from the above CF field to your group field----Please elaborate the solution

• Go to cog wheel > Issues
• Workflows > Edit the specific issue type's workflow
• Click diagram (next to "Text")
• Click "Create" transition
• Click Post Function
• Add new post function
• Select any post function to COPY the value of the field you create to the GROUP field you have
