Hello,

Is there a way that I can have a button in the request form to switch the request type to another type?

Example: I raised a request for a service, and now, with the help of a button in the request form, I will change it to a service request with approvals.

Much appreciated!.

Hi @Mahendra Reddy

Welcome to the community,

JSM doesn’t have a built-in way to add a button on the request form to switch request types directly. However, you can consider to create a custom field (like a dropdown or checkbox) in your request form labeled "Change Request Type" with options for switching types.

Set up an automation rule in JSM that listens for changes to this field. When a user selects a new request type (e.g., "Service Request with Approvals"), the rule changes the issue’s request type accordingly.

Hello Teresa,

Thank you for your prompt response.

I would like to have the same dropdown field adjacent to the create button. This will help us to a great extent with the resolution that I have been looking for.

Please look into the attached screenshot for the reference.

Hi @Mahendra Reddy

Jira doesn’t allow custom fields to be placed directly next to the Create button on the form itself. Custom fields can only be added within the main detail or right issue panel.
