Kanban for JSM project not visible to other users

We have a free Jira Software license to enable kanban boards in JSM. As an admin/owner of the board I am able to see it and access it via the left side menu in JSM. Other users who have a JSM and Jira Software license are able to access it via an URL provided, but can't see/view the board in the left side menu of JSM.

So my question is: How do I make this shortcut of the KanBan visible to other users?

Melle,

I've added a shortcut to a kanban board on my JSM project. I've added another of my accounts as an agent to this project. I can confirm that my second account is able to see this shortcut and press it.

Which role do your colleagues have inside this project?

Hi @Melle van Keulen

You can't place a board on a JSM project. Jira won't let you do that. You can only place it on a jira software project. I wonder how you were able to do that. Can you please share a screenshot?

Hi @Alex Koxaras _Relational_,

As I said, I made a shortcut to the board in the JSM project (as shown in the screenshot). Only this shortcut is only available to me now (admin) and not to regular users of JSM/Jira Software.

No, you didn't exactly said that in the beginning of your sentence, but anyway, I understood now what you've done. According to the documentation, any shortcuts you place are available to all users who have project access.

  • Do your users have any role in the project?
  • And what do you mean by "Other users who have a JSM and Jira Software license"? You are on a free plan for Jira Service Management. These users that you are referring to, have a valid license for which jira instance? Yours?

It's weird because the users that need to see the shortcut have access to the project.

With other users I mean regular users. They all have the same role in the project. The users that I am referring to, have a valid license for our Jira instance, JSM as well as Jira Software.

One more question.

If you try to add a shortcut on a jira software project, is it visible to the other users (the same as previous case)?

Because it's the free version of Jira Software I can't change project roles. If the user is an administrator it's able to see the shortcut.

But let's take a look at this problem from a different perspective. Let go Jira Software and the kanban board shortcut and just focus on JSM.

I looked at shortcuts in general, just what it describes in the documentation you shared. To clear up ambiguity: I have created a shortcut in a JSM project for a random website, it's not visible to other users. It's only visible to administrators. So we would have to look at what causes that users (with a general role as Agents) can't see the shortcut.

Go to permissions scheme and see which permissions the agent role doesn't have, that an admin has.

I can't seem to find the cause of this problem in the permission scheme.  The difference in permission is that admins have the permission to manage projects, but this isn't a permission we want to give our users.
