Hi Team,
I've looked through the limitations, comparisons, and migration documentation, but must have missed this, or perhaps it's not explicitly stated?
I have a Cloud instance, but am migrating to Data Center. I have one or more projects created using a Template (What are the project templates? | Jira Service Management Cloud | Atlassian Support). Jira Data Center does not include Templates functionality.
Knowing that Jira Data Center does not support templates, can I backup and import projects created from project templates into Jira Data Center?
@Joe Pearson Great question. A project template is used to create the project. The project uses the settings in the project template to create all the different pieces of a project (workflows, issues, schemes, etc) Once the project is created it is not associated with the template in any way. You can make adjustments to the project, etc without it having an impact on the template. So any project created from a template will still transfer as any other project would. As you do your preparation and test migrations you will see this.
