I have an issue that was created in service management. When I look at the history it doesn't tell me how it got assigned to a user. It was not assigned through automation, it wasn't automatically assigned due to the project lead, and it doesn't show that anyone assigned it in the history. The image below is the only history on the issue.
Issue was created in Jira and assignee was selected during creation.
Hi Katie, if this is a CMP project it may be that's getting a sign to the project lead or the component lead or there could be a post function in the workflow. Check under the project details first to see if it's a sign to the project lead next look under components for component leads and finally edit the workflow and check the create transition. I do not think that it is an automation since I believe that would show in history.

Turns out the issue was created in Jira not in service desk and the assignee was selected during creating.
