I would like to be able to have an email window open on a specific transition. The user doing the transition would be able to edit the email and then send it.
So I guess this is kind of like a pause before the system sends an automated email so the user can make updates before it goes out.
I think I am understanding you correctly, there are options available to validate the presence of values in fields before proceeding with a transition in Jira. Advanced workflows can be configured to include validators and conditions that check if a specific field is filled out prior to transitioning to a particular status. Advanced Workflow Transitions
However, it's important to note that these validators and conditions do not provide an input window for updating field values before transitioning. It will show an error and tell them fill out those fields before it can transition to the status.
The only feature I am aware of that offers an input window before progressing is Manual Automation. By setting up a manual automation rule and enabling the "Prompt for input when this rule is triggered" option, users will be prompted to fill out the input window before the automation can proceed further. Not sure this is what I'm looking for. I want an email to open up so it can be customized before sending.
Automation would partially populate the email and open it up for the user.

This would be great especially with approval emails that are auto generated. Would be great to add context to the approval before it gets sent out.
