I created an automation with 2 steps
1. When: Issue Created
2, Then: Add comment (will just add some random comment)
When I try to create a ticket from the portal, it doesn't seem to run. I thought it should. The comment is not added. Also the audit log will only show Config Change and it doesn't really say that the automation triggered

Is it possible that your automation is written for a different project than the one where the issue is created? If you look at the audit log what do you see? Given the simplicity of your rule as described I would expect to see that it was not triggered it all but thought we should check.
And, just to double check, is the rule enabled?
