Ticket System: merging organisations

Pascalle Leeuwerink March 17, 2025

We have added per client 1 organisation. But actually all those organisations belong to one organisation so to say (displayed as AMAG).

How can I add all the different AMAG locations to the one main organisation?

If I click on an organisation I only see the customers for that organisation and I cannot edit anything.

The three dots in the upper right corner states:

- edit name

- manage email domains

- remove from project

Hey @Pascalle Leeuwerink

The organizations for customers cannot be added as a member of another Organization, but a single user can be added to multiple organizations (e.g. they could be in AMAG and AMAG Basel).

If you want to merge two, you'll need to move the members across by adding them all to the correct organization, then once it's empty you can remove it from the project, reducing the overall count of organizations.

Did that help? If not, please let me know more details about what you wish to achieve 😊

Hi @Pascalle Leeuwerink

This is the way to go about it, and if you require a way to do these tasks in bulk, you can use our app BulkOps Pro to make this process less cumbersome.

@Jovin thank you for your reply. How can I move the members? If you look at the second print screen I do not have options to assign a different organisation to the member.

Hey @Pascalle Leeuwerink

You'll need to look at from the perspective of adding customers to the Organizations, rather than Organizations to the customers.

You can see the blue "Add Members" option on the Organization, there you can add up to 50 at once. To remove a member from an organization, click the little "Trash Can" icon at the far right of their row.

You could also look to leverage the APIs for Organizations to retrieve, check and add, but that would need to be tested & handled appropriately. See the API References here:

Hopefully that helps!

Thank you @Jovin ! I have been working with Atlassian (Confluence + Jira) for many years already, but I never had to work in the backend of the tool. So trying to find my way. I do check the guides online, but sometimes I am just overwhelmed.  The "ask a question" is very helpful. Have a nice day.

@Pascalle Leeuwerink Absolutely! That's what the community is for, glad I could be of help!

Would you mind marking the top level comment from me as "Accept Answer" so others can find this and implement a similar solution if it matched what you hoped to achieve overall?

done! @Jovin
