We are using two workflows for our project:
(1) for the story
(2) for the sub-tasks
We are trying to create some automations to make it easier for scrum masters to keep the board organized.
One of the automations we are testing is that when the story status is switched to To-Do, that all the sub-tasks are switched to To-Do. Also if we put the Fix version on the story, that it copies to all the sub-tasks as well.
I've been testing out some test stories by:
1. Creating a new Story
2. Creating sub-tasks on the Story
3. Adding a Fix Version to the Story
4. Then changing the status of the Story to To-Do
but nothing happens to either the Status or the Fix Version fields on the story.
Thoughts to make this work?
hi @Amitha Kurmala Welcome to the community
I hope you added both the post functions in the Story workflow if you added these post functions in the sub-task workflow then they would not work, please add both of then in the Story workflow.
For the fix-versions field to get copied from Story to Sub-task you would have to have the fi-versions values filed in before the Story moves into TO DO status or you can have a transition screen added to the Start Working transition where you would include the fix-versions field in that screen and add a fix version value during the transition and that value will get copied into the sub-tasks as well.
Also make sure that fix-versions field is added to the view screen of sub-task issue type.
Hope this helps please let me know if you have any additional questions.
Hi Bharath - this helps a lot. A couple of clarification questions:
1) on the story, which post function do you suggest? For the sub-task flows, i've been using copy value and choosing "parent"
2) for the fixed version copy to work, do I need to add anything in the story workflow as well?

Yes you would have to include the post functions both in the Story workflow in the transition "Start Working". I would not be able to give you the list of post functions that can be used unless I see the actual list of post-functions that you have If you can send me the list of post functions I will be able to help you further.
