A previous colleague who had left the company might have been the JIRA administrator. I want to get the administrator rights to change settings. How can I change this? As nobody in our team has any administrator rights.

Maybe it's best to log at ticket with Atlassian support. I presume they will be able to help you transferring admin rights.
