I have a user which has a service desk agent license and has access to a service desk project.
For some reason when I try to set this user as the default assignee through a hidden assignee field inside a request type, I can select the user but the user is not saved so next time I click on the assignee edit button the control says "Automatic".
This is the only user that is causing this issue. All other have worked fine with the default assignee functionality.
Any ideas on how to approach this?
Thanks!
Hi Lucas,
Thanks for reaching out to Atlassian Community!
When a user can’t be assignee or watcher, for example, the issue is usually related to permissions.
You mentioned that the user has a license, but if only this user is facing this issue, it’s necessary to confirm if they were also added to the project role “Service Desk Team”. Please, go to Project settings > People and check if the users were added there.
Also, compare a user profile that it’s working adding them as assignee with this user that can’t be added.
If the issue persists, please open the developer tools on your browser and try to set the user as the default assignee to check if it shows any other error. If so, please send us the screenshot of the errors.
Regards,
Angélica
1) I have checked and the user is inside the Service Desk Team group
2) I have checked against another user and see no difference between the 2 accounts
3) This is the only warning I get in the console after I press set on the assignee control

btw the user can be added as an assignee manually in the form. Its the Assignee control on the form that does not accept the name as a default when hidden.

Thank you for the details and information Lucas.
I searched here about this issue and found that it may be related to a bug where when we set a default assignee it changes back to Automatic.
Please, check the details on the bug to confirm if it's the same issue you are facing. If so, click on "This affects my team" and watch to receive updates.
