Users Selecting an Assignee

I'm having trouble giving users the ability to select an assignee when they place a service request. 

Currently, when a user creates a service ticket they do not have the ability to select an assignee? Is this something that is possible or is there a way to setup a default assignee? Thank you in advance for your assistance with this matter.

Hi Dermerle,

JSM is not set up to allow people who create requests, to select who gets to work on the request.

What you can do, is have the project administrator, change the project parameter for default assignee. THey can assign the project lead, or a particular person.

THey can also set up components, and components can have default leads.

So, if your staff select a component, then that ticket can be assigned to the component lead.

Thank you for the response. I am the admin for the project and I'm wondering if I set someone as the team lead and they are automatically assigned will they need to have access as an admin? When I go into the project lead screen my name shows up but I believe I have the option to set another team member at the lead. 

 

I'm interested in setting up components. Can you direct me on where I can do this?

Hi Demerie,

Not sure what you mean by 'team lead'. is that a role you have in your project. 

On the project settings, down the bottom, is the Default Assignee field, that can be assigned to the Project Lead, or unassigned.

The project Lead, can be anyone, who has access to your project, which you can see from the People screen, and that also shows their roles inside your project. 

Think as the Project lead as the person who is on the project and is leading the project, and the adminster, is someone who sets stuff up. Yes, they can be the same person, but they don't need to be. (I hope that's not too confusing).

Setting up components (which are project specific, unlike labels that are site wide), is done, at the project settings.

You have to be in a company-managed project, as components are not availabel in a team managed project.

From the project settings, down the bottom, you should see the components label. CLick that, and that will then allow you to open the components screen, where you can create components and assign leads, or assign the project default, or the project lead.

@Mark Higgins I apologize for the delay in my response. I was at a conference. I did mean project lead and not team lead. The information you provided is very helpful and I will reach out to you if I have additional questions.
