Hello everyone,
I have a case where a few important automation rules depend on the link type. To be more specific, if an issue is linked with the linked type "causes" then automation is triggered, if it is linked using any other link type ("relates to" for example) then nothing happens.
Now, to my question. Is there a way to make sure that for specific transitions the "causes" link type has been selected?
I was looking into the workflow but I can not find the correct condition or validator for this. I would like to keep this solution out of the box. I am aware that there are many marketplace apps that can allow this, but we do not have the budget for this.
Thank you.
@Danilo Simic , have you tried the Related Issues Condition in an automation rule?
Considering some conditions/validators in workflow probably you will not have considering naturals resource, but if possible to bring this case for an automation rule you can compare this using a Related Issues Condition.
You can use this for example:

Hello @Fernando Eugênio da Silva
Thank you for the suggestions but this will not completely solve my problem. My automation is already setup to trigger for specific link types.
The problem is when that specific transition is used, users link the correct ticket but use the wrong link type so automation is not trigger. I am looking for a way to block this transition if the link type is not "causes".

@Danilo Simic , Got it!
Considering native resources in Jira this will not be possible to be done. Only using some add-on like Jira Misc Workflow Extensions, Script Runner or another else.
What I can say is to try to use a message field to be displayed in the screen remembering these users to use the correct link type.
