email domain to Organization not working

Rúna Loftsdóttir March 26, 2025

Hi

I have created several Organizations in Settings > Products > Jira Service ManagementOrganizations.

In each Organization I have added the email domain as company.is  (not @company.is   )

I tested from an email that has never sent Issue to Jira JSM, but the Org field does not populate

Any Ideas ?

Hi @Rúna Loftsdóttir

Please verify if you've added the domain correctly as company.is, which is the correct format.

If the domain isn’t listed under the organization, try re-adding it and check the customer permissions.

Additionally, you can use Automation to update the Organization field based on the reporter's email domain.

Let me know if you need any help.

The Org is correctly set up - see image.

I did test the automation, but it adds the domain but not the Company name. I am trying to use the feature that reads the email-domain and adds the Org name in the Org field.

Also, even though I have created an Organization, it does not show up if I try to add it manually in the Org field within the Issue record - see image

Hi @Rúna Loftsdóttir

Are you following the steps below?

1. Go to the project.

2.Click on Customers in the left sidebar.

3.On the Customers page, you will find the Add organizations button and the Add customer button.

4.Use the Add organizations option to add your company name.

In the search bar, enter your company name.

  • If it already exists, select it.and click on add button
  • If not, select New, press Enter, and then click on the Add button.

8.Then, try setting the organization in the issue.

Thanks,
Geethanjali

Hi and thanX for this.

I am a little bit confused :-) Do I need to manually add every single Organization to each project.

I thought that the Org field would use the Org list from the global settings.

Yeah, we can add organizations at the global level, and also we need to select that organization name in the specific project where you want to use that organization. Only then will you be able to see the organization name in the issue.

Thanks,

Geethanjali
