Hello world!
We receive a lot of email, like everyone else I suppose. There are some very specific messages that we want to be able to automate issue creation. How does one set up jira automation to receive messages? We're using the cloud platform so not sure if that adds to the complexity of my situation.
Thanks!
Apparently this was the answer ... change project type! Thankfully I wasn't very far into project creation.

This can only be done after issue creation, there are no options to validate on input before an issue is created in the system
This can done based on conditions in an automation rule.

Hello @Katie Kusjanovic
Outside of Jira, you can create an email rule to forward messages you wish to use to create issues to another mailbox. The exact details will depend on your email provider.
