invoke-jiraissuetransition not working on service desk

Arya Aalaei October 2, 2018

Hi

I have one service desk site and couple of other "business" sites. I'm able to to move my "issue" through my business site workflows with invike-jiraissuetransition just fine but for the issues in service desk I get below error:

Invoke-JiraIssueTransition : The specified Jira issue cannot perform transition [221]. Check the issue's Transition property and provide a transition valid for its current state.

I have checked service desk workflow and sure about the transition id there.

Service Desk has additional requirements in regards to which users can work issues.   For example, in a service desk project, in order to transition the issue, the user making that transition call has to be licensed as an Agent.  This is explained in more detail in Setting up service desk users.

I suspect that you might see the kind of error you get if you were trying to transition an issue in  JSD project where you were not licensed as a agent.   In cases like this you might have project permissions to see the issue and even permission to edit/transition.  But this won't be enough to actually transition the issue unless you are a service desk agent.   The same restriction does not exist for Jira Software/Core projects.  In those projects any licensed Jira users can transition those issues if they have the permission to do so.
