Hi there,
I'm a new Jira admin and my supervisor asked if the following is possible:
I recently made three dashboards for our developers, each a little different to accommodate the individual users’ preference to what they wanted to see.
Now instead of creating more dashboards for each individual user, is it possible to just make one dashboard, where, depending on who is signed in, you see only certain stuff? For example, my supervisor wants to see everything, user A needs to see only 2 Gadgets, while user B needs to see 5 Gadgets.
I know you can adjust the filter for the dashboard with the currentuser() function, but I can’t see how I could use that here. As I understood the current() function, it shows only the tickets that are assigned to the logged in user. But I need them to be able to see all tickets from their team.
Thanks for your input and help.
Hi @Maike Sudau,
I am Marlene, product manager of Quick Filters for Jira Dashboards.
If you are open to work with a Marketplace app, you could check if Quick Filters for Jira Dashboards suits your needs.
Many of our customers use this app to reduce the number of Jira dashboards on their instance. With the Quick Controller gadget, you can dynamically filter all other Quick Gadgets on a dashboard. This allows you to create a single, standard dashboard and let users filter it to match their specific needs.
The Quick Controller is easy to use, and you can try it our yourself on our demo dashboards.
Hi @Marlene Kegel - codefortynine
we are already using the plug-in Rich Filter for our dashboard. Do you know if those two can be used together?
Thanks!
Kind regards, Maike

Hello @Maike Sudau,
You can build a dashboard with gadgets from both apps. But our Quick Controller gadget only communicates with our Quick Gadgets. It's not possible to filter Rich Filter gadgets with the Quick Filters controller.
I hope that helps! Let me know if you have further questions.

Hey @Maike Sudau , welcome to the Atlassian Community! I don't think you can have the different gadgets based on the current logged in user. The best way to achieve this is to use the currentUser() function in your JQL query and make the dashboard generic so that it can show data in the gadgets based on the current user. You can maybe create your dashboards in a clever way where it covers different themes relevant to the same group of people rather than creating them specific to only a few.
Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi @Marios Marneros , thank you.
"You can maybe create your dashboards in a clever way where it covers different themes relevant to the same group of people rather than creating them specific to only a few." That is exactly what I had in mind, you just expressed it much better than I did =)
Could you point me in the way of ressources where I can learn how to do that?
Thanks for your help.

Hey @Maike Sudau , what kind of metrics do you want to include on your generic dashboard? If there are 5 gadgets and only 2 are relevant for a User, then if there is nothing to show on that gadget then it will be empty. Please let me know the topics or metrics you would like to display and I can give you some guidance!
