I have a very simple automation script. When any description is updated, go and create these 4 stories under a xx Epic. While creating stories, also update the story point field with value 1.
When automation runs, it goes to xx Epic, creates 4 stories under it, but fails to update story point value there.
Error is :

Hi @AjayShankar AN and welcome to the Community!
I've seen it happen quite a few times that there are multiple Story Point fields in an instance. I would not be surprised if that is the case in your instance as well and that you may be trying to set th wrong field.
Also, if you are creating issues and want to set fields during creation, those fields must be present on the create screen associated with the issue type you are trying to create. Check project settings > issues > screens in your project, locate the issue type (story) and check if the (correct) story points field is on the create screen for it.
Hope this helps!
Thank you @Walter Buggenhout I checked, there is only one filed called "Story Points" and it is available in the screen. Attached the screen shot here. Dont know why it is being considered as custom field.
Other nearest field is "Story Point Estimate".

That is not the screen, @AjayShankar AN - it is the layout that is on top of that. Story point estimate is a field used in team managed projects. It just fell off your initial screenshot above, but I thought I could see that your project is actually company managed (or am I wrong there?) ...
So, let's focus on the create issue screen here. Don't look for the lay-out in project settings, but for the actual screen that's associated with the create issue operation under project settings > issues > screens > story > Create Issue
(I have different issue types, but it should look somewhat like this):

Hi @Walter Buggenhout Yes, it is company managed projects. I am attaching here the screen shot of Screens.
What should I check next?

Check if the Story Points field is present on the AM: Scrum Default Issue Screen. As it doesn't display as a link on your screenshot, it may very well be that you don't have Jira Admin permission - to manage screens, you need that permission, so you might need to reach out to a Jira admin in your organisation to check this for you.

Yes, Indeed, I dont have that access. Thanks for pointing it out.

Another way to check if the field is present is to click the Create button you would use in the UI to manually create a new issue. The Creator Issue dialog should display.
There should be a link in the upper right corner to Configure fields. That allows you to review all the fields available for creating issues of the type you specified.

If you have accessed the create issue dialog, and you have specified the same Project and Issue type you are trying to create in the Automation Rule, the field is not present in the Configure field list, that means the field has not been added to the screen used for the Creat Issue operation for that type of issue in that project.
If the field is not present, then the Automation Rule can't set the field when it creates the same issue.
A Jira Administrator will have to update the screen to enable you to set the field.
