Now that most of us are moved over from Opsgenie to Jira Service Management, where do we define incident response roles?

Hi @Pete Robinson

Welcome to the community. There is the ability to create custom roles but it may not be exactly how it was in OpsGenie. In JSM it seems mainly permission oriented but below you can see it is possible to create a role such as incident commander as a role that can be created and assigned in a team  2025-08-11 17_16_11-Window.png

Hi @Christopher Yen

I'm not sure if that would let us do what we could previously with OpsGenie.
When working in an Incident, we previously were able to add 'Responders' then add their role (incident commander, scribe, etc.).  Now, there is no option to add a role to the responder.

Hello @Pete Robinson

The easiest way to recreate the rules and alert activities we used in OpsGenie is by creating a Team.  Each Team has an Operations section that includes the OpsGenie functionality.
