Is there the possibility to add service desk user (in the portal) only with reading rights?
As far as I can see it's just possible to add customers to an organization but there is no seperate permission scheme for them.

Thanks for your feedback.

Hey @karin and welcome to the community! :)

There is no separate permission scheme for customers that's correct. As customers are only interacting with the service management project from the portal, you can find most of the settings affecting their ability to sign up, share requests, etc. in the project settings -> customer permissions. Here is the corresponding documentation article with more information: How global customer permissions impact project permissions

There are also few global ones. So depending on what kind of "user" ( or simply a customer) you want to enable to access requests, simply sharing will be helpful. If we are talking about licensed Jira users that could collaborate in the project itself and not the customer portal, there would be other solutions possible. (What users and roles are there in Jira Service Management?

So about what kind of user are we talking about exactly? If I'm not mistaken you will not be able to use different "customer roles" and make one of them a "read-only" role. Because if you look closely at the permission scheme you will see the entry "Service Project Customer - Portal Access" that's managing most of the permissions as is applied to all customers.

Best, Max

Hi @Max Foerster - K15t ,
thanks for your feedback. I'm just talking about a 'simply customer portal user', not a Jira licensed user.

So as far as I can understand, for those users there are just the customer permissions. So no read only rights possible. All customer portal user are allowed to do the same.

Thanks and Best,
 Karin
