Hello A.C
I recently set up another service desk for another team in my org. For service request issue type workflow, this team does not want to utilize the pending status.
I have tried to remove it but I get this error:
I have made a copy of this workflow, it went under inactive pile. I was able to remove the pending status on the copied workflow, please advise how can I utilize the edited workflow in my service project?
How can I make the copied workflow active, then utilize it for my issue types?
In addition to @Guilhem Dupuy recommendation, one other important note you need to do is to ensure the WF scheme is not used by other projects, so your customized WF (with PENDING status) implementation will not affect other projects if there are projects sharing the same WF scheme.
If the situation above is found, you will also need to create a separate WF scheme and associate your new customized WF first. Once it is done, apply the new WF scheme to your specific project and publish it.

Or, if you intentionally want to replace the workflow on all projects that are using the old workflow, just go ahead and replace the workflow. Just be aware that replacing a workflow in a workflow scheme does indeed apply to all projects that are using that scheme!

Hi @Esther Amunga ,
It's a classic problem, hopefully you've done most of the work by copying and adjusting the Workflow and you just miss the ultimate step :)
You simply have to go to your jira Settings (cog on the top right) => Issues => Workflow Schemes and find the Workflow scheme associated to your Service project (which currently uses the older version of the Workflow).
Once you found it, you need to edit this scheme and replace the old Workflow by the one you copied. Then, simply "publish" the Workflow Scheme and your new Workflow will become the active one :)
Let me know if it helps,
Guilhem
