Hello all!
The way of editing a custom field select list is quite complex and with a lot of manual work related.
So my question is, is there a short cut to simple edit the select lists items? Maybe also for simple users?
Thank you!
Kind regards
Jürgen
Hi @Juergen Holzer ,
There is no easy answer here but there are a few things that can help you :
Custom Field Context:
Jira allows you to define custom field contexts, which limit the visibility of the field to specific projects or issue types. By assigning the custom field to relevant contexts, you can restrict its usage and make it easier for users to manage.
External Tools and Apps:
There are third-party apps and tools available in the Atlassian Marketplace that offer enhanced functionality for managing custom fields, including select lists.
These apps often provide user-friendly interfaces and additional features for editing select list values. They may offer options like importing/exporting values from spreadsheets or providing a dedicated UI for managing select list options.
Automation:
Jira's automation features can also be leveraged to simplify select list editing.
You can set up an automation rule that triggers based on specific criteria (e.g., a certain issue status or custom field value), and then automatically updates the select list options using Jira's REST API or other available integrations.
I was afraid of reading this answer :-(
So maybe I'll go through an automation rule with specific ticket/issue created in my ITSM project to edit the list. Are you aware of any sample I can reuse? :-)

As far I know by default in Jira there is no way to create/edit custom fields and theirs values in easier way.
