Hi

I'm looking for an app (for cloud instance) or other solution to be able to calculate costs based on logged time in a tickets. Most important thing is that I have different rates per part of day (morning/afternoon/night). Do you know something which cover this need?

Regards,

Seba

Hello, @Sebastian Krzewiński

EasyTime may help you record your time automatically, but at this moment it won't be able to do this advanced business logic. I will however put this onto our product roadmap, since we already know how to do this...

As Platinum Atlassian Solution Partners in New Zealand and Australia, we have previously implemented something similar, alas in Data Center:

  • in JSM
  • used Tempo Timesheets (we are also a Tempo Partner)
  • had a structure of "sibling" accounts under the same Customer, with different account categories, where one account would be "normal", and the other(s) will be auxiliary, e.g., regular rates and after hours rates
  • had logic to assign a Tempo account to the issue itself, based on the JSM Organisation to Tempo Customer mapping by name
  • had a ScriptRunner script listener to be invoked on work log being created or edited, inspect the timestamp and duration and make automatic actions:
    • split the work log in two, if it crosses the boundary (e.g. 6pm into overnight rates zone)
    • based on the business rules identify what category of an account should be used for the time of day, e.g., regular or after hours
    • lookup an account for the same customer as the account currently on the ticket, but for this category just identified (e.g. ticket is using regular rates account, but the work log is after 6pm, so the script "steps up" to the level of the Tempo Customer of the current account, and then "steps to the side" to find a sibling account for the same customer, but in the "after hours" category)
  • then using Tempo Timesheets reports export time split by account into Excel and calculate dollar figures (I think Tempo's Cost Tracker might do it better in Cloud)

I am not aware of any app that does this out of the box, but there are so many now in the "time tracking" category...

Hi @Sebastian Krzewiński ,

Would this EasyTime Time Tracker by Techtime be a solution for your problem.
I remember talking to @Ed Letifov _TechTime - New Zealand_ about it at Team '23.

You can find the app here: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1221009/easytime-time-tracker-automatic-jira-time-tracking?hosting=cloud&tab=overview

Cheers,
Peter
