Hi,
Are there instructions for uninstalling Jira Service Management that is running on the same server as Jira Software without breaking Jira Software?
When I tested the uninstall feature for the Jira Service Management in my test environment, my test Jira software stopped working properly, we stopped receiving notifications from our test Jira software.
Your advice and assistance is appreciated,
Thank You!
Yes,
we were able to uninstall Service Management as easily as clicking the Uninstall button in the Administration>Applications>Versions & licenses screen.
Thank You!
I have a follow up question - what about the data created in the projects? We need to keep the data for audit purposes but will be deprecating JSM due to lack of support staff.
We are planning to create new projects/issue types / schemes, etc and migrating the data to the new projects before the uninstall. How do we ensure that data loss is minimal aside from these steps?

UPDATE: We simply created new projects in JIRA Software and bulk moved all of the tickets over. Everything was retained as long as we had created a (non-JSM) field to map the data to.
Our Audit trail was preserved. Of course you lose things like SLA times but we werent really using that - our main reason for going off of JSM.

Hi
I know, this is an old ticket, but:
I'm sitting here having to uninstall our Jira ServiceManagement (SM), and wondering:
We also have a number of Apps/AddOns related to ServiceManagement (SM).
Do I disable them before uninstalling SM, or does it not matter what sequence things are done?
(Like depenedencies in yum/apt on Linux, I mean.)
Thanks in advance.

For posterity:
I disabled related apps first and then uninstalled JSM.
It all went just fine.
Now only issue is apparently some leftover automation rules, making useless noise in jira logfile, due to customfields that was probably nuked by JSM uninstallation. Of course (?) the logfile doesn't pinpoint the exact rule, so I have to do some digging....

Hello @Alfredo Lagrosa ,
I hope you are doing well!!
If you have both the product installed on your server, ideally you need go to go Admin Cog and click on Application, look for product Jira Service Management and Click on Uninstall.
Note: Please take backup of your application before performing any actions.
Regards,
Mayur

I just performed the operation, and unfortunately, it completely breaks Jira. You need to go back to https://hostname/plugins/servlet/applications/versions-licenses
and reactivate Jira Software.
Normally, it's possible to use Jira Software without Jira Service Management, and we should be able to uninstall it without breaking the instance.

I did it this in my Test environment with no issues whatsoever last week.
I have just this minute finished the same operation in PreProd, also with no issues at all.
I go to "versions and licenses" and click uninstall. But first after disabling each and every Apps/Addins that are related to ServiceManagament first. (We had a bunch that were suupposed to make SM better/smarter/fancier)
Can you explain what you did other than that?
And why you end up saying it completely broke Jira?
