Why two different Jira service desk portal links?

Sushant Pandey March 10, 2020

The issue i am experiencing is this

I have created Jira Service Desk project (With Nex Gen Service Desk setup) and if i navigate to Channels I see portals link as

https://<CompanyName>.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/2

I then have customized the page and added company logo and invited a test user to checkout the page and try opening different requests which works fine.

But the issue I am seeing now is that if that test user clicks on the Logo that I have added it redirects that test user to a different URL which is exposing all my other Jira Service Desk projects. Also that URL is different from the one mentioned above, it's this

https://<CompanyName>.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portals

What i am not able to figure out is from where is this URL exposed because the Service Desk page doesn't seem to have any URL edit option to change this URL link for the logo.

Any hint will be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Sushant,

Thank you for reaching out to Atlassian Community!

The first URL is related specifically to the project. When we click on any project on the main page, the URL will show a number that is its identifier, like an ID.

The URL xxxxxx.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portals is related to the main page and it will show all the projects that the customers have access to.

If the test user is seeing the projects it means that they have access, so you need to make sure that the projects are closed, so when a customer access the portal they will only see what they have permission.

For all the projects, you need to go to:

For classic projects: Project settings > Customer permissions > Who can access the portal and send requests to "project"? > Customers my team adds to the project > Save.

For next-gen projects: Project settings > Channels > Customer permissions >  Who can access the portal and send requests to "project"? > Customers my team adds to the project > Save.

Changing this, only customers added manually to the project will be able to access the customer portal and create tickets.

Regards,
Angélica
