email issue comments - can we keep them "internal" only?

Jira SD supports the ability to have issue comments updated simply by sending emailing to our support@ email address with the ticket # in the subject line.  This feature has saved use a great deal of time and effort.  We're wondering if these added comments can be designated as "internal" only so the end customer will not be notified of the comment?
