how can i make a field read only?

i need to make a field read only. i want it to be only modified based on automation rules. can i have it read only ?

Hello @Flaviu Dan ! Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

To make a field read-only, you have to have a screen of the issue type(s) that is used only for viewing (versus editing and creating) and apply that field only on that screen.
