Jira Automation: How do I use automation to create a Jira ticket FROM JSM?

Ryan Robert Easton September 17, 2024

i am trying to clone tickets from my JSM instance to my Jira Data Center instance upon creation. Essentially I am trying to use Jira automation to accomplish this and auto fill data from the JSM ticket to a fresh ticket on the Jira side. I see a "Create Jira Service Management request" button (screenshot below) but nothing for JSM -> Jira requests. Does anyone have any ideas on how to accomplish this?

The two applications are linked, as well as both projects on the JSM and Jira side respectively. Thank you in advance.

Hi Ryan,

before being able to suggest something, maybe it would be good to explain this a little more in depth.

You are speaking about two instances of Jira (one JSM and one "Jira Data Center"). Does it mean that the JSM instance is independent from your Data Center instance? Or would you like to create a cloned issue in another non-JSM project in the same instance?

If it is about using a different instance, I am not sure if there is any direct automation that can handle it at all.

If this is about creating a cloned issue in the same instance, there might be ways of achieving this, but it would be needed to understand the use case better.

Thanks

Stefan
