Hi people,

I read a lot about multiple boards within one Jira project. It seems actually really easy to implement a second board. But for me it is not.

I searched for all my boards and pushed the button create a new board. Then it asks me if I want to use a kanban or a scrum board. I selected Kanban board. Now I want to add it to an existing project with leads me to the next page. There I have to choose the project and the data source.

And there is the problem I can not choose my existing projects because they are not displayed in the options menu. The options menu is just empty and it does not find my existing projects.

Can anyone help me out how it does work??

thanks a lot in advance.

Instead of using the existing project radio, select "Create board from a saved filter".  Of course, you have to create the filter you want to use in advance.

Do a basic filter eg  project = XXX, then select that filter.

Name the board and choose the Saved filter from the dropdown.   Then hit Create board

You will have to configure your board to match all the other criteria you want, including defining your columns and swimlanes, and you can define some quick filters.  It's pretty straight forward once you create it.

Be sure to share your filter and your board if others are going to be using it.

Hope this helps!

I suspect you are working with either a business project or NG. Assuming this is the case, when you create the board you will want to choose your profile for “Location” rather than the project. Once you create the board add a link to the projects sidebar usin “Add item”.

Hi @michael.hehrlein ,

Can you please confirm whether you are able to see issues in that project or access it from the main landing page? (Open Jira, click "Projects" in the left nav bar, then find your project in the list.)

It sounds like you do not have the "Browse Projects" permission enabled for your userid, group or role.

Are these Classic Projects or one of the "Next-Gen" project templates? I dont think you can create a board for the latter of the two.
