Add a read-only text block to Transition Screen?

Hey everyone,

We are trying to create a transition screen which displays a static block of read-only text above the comment field. Our intent is to show the user audit-approved text options that they can copy paste into the comment.

For example, the screen would show the following text:

Copy and paste the appropriate text from the options below:

Option 1: I approve with no changes

Option 2: I approve with the following changes [insert changes]

Option 3: *complicated special case instructions*

I am not seeing a "read-only" type of custom field and wonder what ideas the community could come up with. Thank you very much!

You can use the Message custom field to do this. In order to view the message in a transition screen use the Message custom field (for edit). 

You will see both of these custom fields if you go to Settings > Issues > Custom fields and click Create custom field > Advanced.

To anyone else pursuing this setup: the Message field will not show up on the transition screen until you set the default value for the field, which is found under Global Settings (gear in top right) --> Issues --> Custom Fields --> three-dot menu for the field --> Contexts and Default Value --> Edit Default Value

Another thing to mention here is that the new field will only be added to issues created from now on. You won't see it on screens for existing issues
