Howdy All~ The approvals section appears on the top right panel of the Service Desk ticket... Has this always been the case? I could've sworn it used to be further down, under that assignee/reporter section.

Lol yeah it used to be down the people section. With the cloud version, Atlassian does all those updates automatically with little notice.
ugh~ my users noticed and were asking if I made changes to the format / layout etc. So there's no way to change it back?

It looks you can rearrange them by opening an issue and choosing ••• > Configure.

That's only for the new view isn't it?
The new view isn't on our SD's. At least neither of my SD projects have "Issue Layout" in the project settings (not to mention that I've seen the new layout in Software projects, and that "look" doesn't match what's currently in our two Service Desk projects).
I just checked our test ticket after cancelling it, and the approvers section is back to where it used to be.
