Custom Field is Required

Hi, I created a custom field and made it required in a global context by accident. Now, it seems that other projects has been affected too and they are requesting this custom field.  I tried to changed the context from Global to project specific but now I get the notification to re-index everything. I could delete the custom field because it was created for testing purposes but I don't know what else might come up.

Can you please help? How can I solve this issue?

Hi @Dimitrios Danampasis,

It's ok if you delete the field as long as there isn't any data stored in it already.

If there is you might need to go back through the projects and remove the field one by one so you can retain your data (if that is important).

As a best practice you should re-index after adding custom fields, so don't worry too much about that.

Hope this helps!

Hi Patrick, thank you so much for your reply. I have deleted the custom field. As I mentioned, I was asked to perform a re-index at a system-level. Is it okay if I do that, will the end users notice anything?

It will be fine to do a background re-index as long as there hasn't been significant change in the system, users shouldn't notice anything.

Deleting the field solved the issue!

Thanks again for your valuable help.
