Custom field with default value not appearing in existing issues.

I created a custom field ABC and added a user in the default value. On the newly created issues I am able to see the ABC field with the default user on the view screen. However on the existing issues the ABC field is showing as empty.

Yes, that's correct.

Default values are there for pre-filling fields during issue creation.  The existing issues you have are already created, so they don't need defaults.

If you want to change them, you'll need to (bulk) edit the issues to add the values you want.

Nick,

Is there a way to script a Behavior or Post Function to do this automatically when the Default value is changed?  We are constantly updating the defaults in Custom Field Contexts and it would save a lot of time not having to Bulk Change all 18,000 Issues each time that happens.

Thanks.
