Updating an issue does not update custom database field

Hi,

We are using an addon to collect a database value which works great when creating an issue but less so when the original value has changed in the database we collect it from after the issue is created. 

Since Jira is static and fields to not live update this causes an issue for us. Im wondering if there is a way to update all issues in a project every night. Currently asking everyone to go and click Edit and resave the issue is not going to work in the long run.

It is possible. You could write your own plugin or use such plugins as Power Scritps, Adaptivist ScriptRunner.

We tried to do it with Jira Automation Plugin which did not work, but we also 
have a subscription for Adaptavist Scriptrunner. But i didnt think you could run a script on a schedule and also just perform a proper update of the issue.
