Hi team,
I've got a request from user to increase attachment size in JIRA from 10 MB to 30 MB.
So, need to confirm if increasing the size will have any impact on JIRA performance or any other impact?
Just FYI, we are using JIRA version 6.3.15.
Hi @Aditi Jain,
we have a limit of 20 MB in our Jira and don't get into any trouble up to now.
But of course, it depends on the behaviour of your users. They are able to consume a lot more disk space on your system if they begin to upload now a lot of big files.
If your user wants to uplad only one single big file, you can raise the limit temporarily until he has uploaded the file and then reset the limit to the old value.
Thanks Thomas for your immediate response.
Actually, just to prevent delay in the project activities, I've already changed the size to 30MB. But as you've mentioned that a limit of 20 MB is there in JIRA, so I'm not sure how I'm able to change to 30MB without any error message.
Also, as confirm by user this is required for 22 different projects and each project has one file of approx. size of 20-22 MB. And, this is required temporarily only. I can revert back the changes by early next week.
So, was just checking that this activity should not have any performance impact on JIRA?

I don't think that there are big performance issues. While there's a download for the files, the network will be more busy, of course. But the files are not so big.
If it is a temporary change, the impact on your memory consumption should also not be too big. Make sure that you have enough space left on your server. But this is something, you should do anyway, regardless of the file upload limit.

Thanks a lot Thomas for the clarification. Really appreciate it.
